Employment and Education services are an important step in the self sufficiency process, providing a sense of self-worth and enhancing self-esteem. The Employment and Education program is designed to pay particular attention to placement issues confronted by individuals when they seek to enter or re-enter the workforce.
The Employment and Education Manager works with participants with the understanding that each individual’s education and work history, the meaning of work in their lives, and concerns about how to fulfill their role in becoming productive members of society is different for each person
The following services are available to all TRC Participants:

Workshops and Classes
Job Readiness Workshop: educates tenants on the world of work and job expectations, reviewing appropriate dress and work place behavior, building resumes and interviewing skills, improving interpersonal and conflict management skills, how to evaluate options in order to solve problems, planning how to respond to personal questions and other issues around self-disclosure (criminal and substance abuse backgrounds), identifying skills and strengths, building hope and motivation, and recognizing successes and supporting tenants through setbacks (job loss, drug relapse or psychotic episode etc.)
Career Development Workshop: is conducted on an ongoing basis discussing topics such as: attendance/punctuality, quality/quantity of work, cooperation with supervisors/co-workers, listening and following directions and rules, money management, what to do with leisure time, external triggers/internal triggers for relapse back into substance abuse, anger and stress management and socializing with co-workers. This workshop was developed to work with tenants through peer development on maintaining employment once they have gotten employed. This also explores what it takes , in terms of education and training, to be successful on a certain career path.
Adult Basic Education/GED/Basic Computer Classes provide group and/or one-on-one instruction to adults in adult basic education, GED preparation and basic computer literacy. These classes assist TRC residents to achieve skills required to secure a GED, retain a job or further their education.
