Community

Development

As a Community Development Corporation (CDC), The Renaissance Collaborative creates and preserves affordable housing and economic development projects that strengthen and revitalize our community.

Below are the projects we’re working on for the benefit of the residents of Bronzeville, Washington Park, and neighboring communities.

Our Current Projects

  • RAD2 Conversion

This housing contract with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) will preserve the affordable rent prices of The Renaissance Apartments for at least 15 years. It will also allow us to renovate the units and communal spaces.

  • Senior Village 2

The second phase of the Senior Village Project will be erected kiddie-corner to Senior Village 1. This building will be intergenerational with a focus on supporting “GrandFamilies” a.k.a. seniors raising dependents.

  • "Green" Workforce Center

TRC is in the early stages of developing a workforce center down the street from our headquarter building with a focus on promoting jobs in the clean energy industry. The building will be net-zero, meaning all energy used with be produced on-site.
